Community Garden Scroll

I asked others to follow nine prompts and paint with white paint on a black gessoed canvas scroll. I asked them to visualize this scroll as a community garden. Everyone is planting/decorating this garden. This scroll also should be read in right-to-left order, with the beginning of time on the far right and the end of time on the far left.

0. Black is the color of the uterus of the Mother, my existence silently forms colors other than black: white bone, red blood, and yellow skin. do I need color? Do I need solidity? My veins snake through my bones like a banyan tree.

1. The sperm of each animal has a different shape, some seem like daisies, and some possess two tails. But they are all uniformly white in color.

2. My troubles are like the Milky Way, glimmering with a faint white light in the borderless night sky. How insignificant my troubles seem in the long river of history, yet they are so many.

3. I cut off the green parts of the white lilies, and, finally, I put them into the black pool of water.

4. The chrysanthemum is a white whirlpool, a precious gift for the dead. In the very center of the swirl is a black hole, would you like to stick your finger in it?

5. I patiently painted black, maybe it was a good idea to cover everything in black, if the world is already black, why would I add extra color?

6. A hazy egg has been artificially rinsed to a delicious white. Do you want to choose to let it nurture life or choose to let it fill your hungry stomach?

7. I miss the dark nights with the howling cold winds, with only the snow-filled ground reflecting the white moonlight. I want to brush away the white snow and create a small patch of black, fertile soil, on which there must be dandelion feathers ready to sprout.

8. A white tulip spinning at high speed can burn one's hands, leaving scorched black marks.
